The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has just announced the official Fan’s Ballot finalists. According to the RRHOF, each artist who made it into the Top 5 spots will receive an extra vote in the overall Class of 2017 Induction voting, which is wrapping up soon. And the fans’ Top 5 vote getters are…
- Journey – 1st place
- Electric Light Orchestra – 2nd place
- Yes – 3rd place
- Pearl Jam – 4th place
- The Cars – 5th place
While the RRHOF did not show the final tallies along with this announcement, the last count I personally saw after casting my own final round of votes on January 15 saw Journey having garnered over 250,000 fan votes, ELO just over 200k, and Yes in the mid-190k range. I voted for Yes and ELO every day, and rotated my votes for Journey, Pearl Jam, and The Cars all throughout the voting period. I also varied the remainder of my votes amongst other eligible artists like J. Geils Band, Steppenwolf, and The Zombies — any or all of whom, of course, could still be inducted based on the actual vote itself.
As soon as the RRHOF announces the Class of 2017 Inductees, we’ll report it right here on HRAC.
In the meantime, for a refresher on who all of the eligible Class of 2017 nominees are, see my story on them here.
