The boundary-pushing prog-fusion pioneers Brand X are back at it again, and they’re now gearing up for putting out their first album in over 20 years. To that end, But wait. . . There’s more! Live 2017 is set for official release on July 20, 2017.
Te band is also on tour now, and you can check out the dates right here. (You can also pick up the album at the merch table, BTW.)
Original Brand X members Percy Jones (the monster/master fretless bassist) and guitarist John Goodsall spearhead the band. The other members on But wait are Kenwood Dennard, who also played drums on Livestock over 40 years ago; veteran keyboard player Chris Clark; and percussionist Scott Weinberger. The album was recorded live in January 2017 at Sellersville Theater in Sellersville, Pennsylvania by Steve Remote, and it was mixed by Stephen W. Tayler, who was behind the desk for 1977’s Moroccan Roll and 1978’s Masques, two classic Brand X fusion albums. The new artwork (seen here) was designed by Leon Alvarado, with photos by Avraham Bank.
But wait… There’s more! Live 2017 can be pre-ordered on Brand X’s official Facebook page.
As noted above, Brand X return to the road this June, and then after the summer, will continue being on tour in September, October, and November. Kenny Grohowski will take over the drum chair for Dennard for the upcoming run. You can see a preview of the tour and the album below…
