Put up The Wall! Well, that may be the opposite sentiment of one of the underlying themes of Pink Floyd’s seminal 1979 album The Wall, but it makes perfect sense when you apply the idea to the upcoming Special Collector’s Edition of Roger Waters – The Wall, which is being made available exclusively at rogerwaters.com.
The one-of-a-kind Wall box set features a triple gatefold that expands to 5 1/2 feet when fully open and sports hand-applied graphics, so no two of them will be alike.
This special edition contains four discs of 180-gram audiophile vinyl in red, white, clear, and black, each one with a unique engraving. The vinyl contains the brand new score by Roger Waters, which is only available in this package, as well as a pair of CDs with the complete live soundtrack to the film.
Three Blu-ray discs house the full feature-length film and these bonus features: The Simple Facts – A Conversation with Nick Mason and Roger Waters; a new documentary about the making of the tour; Buenos Aires Time Lapse; Athens Time Lapse; A Visit to Frank Thompson; Facebook Films (36 mini episodes); “Comfortably Numb” Live at The O2 with a special appearance by David Gilmour; and “Outside The Wall” Live at The O2 with special appearances by David Gilmour and Nick Mason.
A download code is included for hi-res digital versions of all of the music in the package. A 170-page full-color hardcover book showcases live and behind-the-scenes images from the 2010-2013 tour and the film.
Once the box set is ordered, customers will receive a special hardcover save-the-date folio that contains two art prints and will be shipped in November, perfect for holiday gifting. The main boxes themselves will ship in early 2016.
So, with all of this fine detail now in mind, let me rephrase my initial comment: Bring on The Wall!
